In this session, participants will understand the importance of promoting critical thinking activities in their classrooms. They will be exposed to interesting children's books and activities which promote deep thinking & will be able to ponder how they could incorporate the ideas learned to enhance critical thinking in their classrooms.

The goal is to examine the domains and characteristics of G/T students in discovering that there is no one "cookie-cutter" G/T student and that each student is unique. Participants will leave the session with urgency to leave behind stereotypes and to better identify the many faces of G/T students.

As we continue to explore creative ways to engage students, educators look to Invention Education as effective teaching strategies empowering students with more relevant learning. Educators who create environments that are conducive to self-determination help students feel greater levels of satisfaction, more engaged and invested in what they’re learning.

How can rural and small districts implement local norms and universal screening when budgets are small and coordinators’ time is limited? What can a part time G/T coordinator do? Come to collaborate, problem-solve and explore scenarios of how to creatively implement research-based best practices that work for rural schools.
