Research indicates that schools can improve academic achievement when they support gifted learners’ cognitive and affective characteristics. This session will highlight the goals and components of an affective curriculum and provide examples to illustrate direct and indirect learning connections to support the whole gifted child in the classroom.

Hear from a group of 2024 National Math Star students! These students are part of a cohort of 61 extraordinarily talented young mathematicians, selected from a pool of over 1,300 applicants spread across Texas. As a National Math Star, each student has access to our 10-year support and scholarship program designed to help them grow up to push the frontiers of math and science.

In this personalized learning experience, ESC specialists from around the state will lead conversations, share ideas, and introduce strategies on specific topics through a timed rotation model. From emergent bilinguals to differentiation to family/community involvement, this session promises to address the needs of gifted learners from different perspectives.
