About me
Monica Brewer is a Statewide Coordinator, Gifted/Talented (G/T) Education with the Texas Education Agency. In this role, Monica coordinates all aspects of G/T education and the Commissioner’s Advisory Council for Gifted/Talented Education. Monica is a qualified leader and holds the required foundational G/T education training.
At the state level, she coordinates content development for professional learning, redesigning the Equity in G/T Education website, which includes Economically Disadvantaged Students & G/T Services, English Language Learners & G/T Services, and Twice-Exceptional Students & G/T Services. Worked to increase the usage of the Texas Performance Standards Project across Texas. Before joining Texas Education Agency in 2012, Monica worked for 18 years for Dallas ISD in various positions, including G/T Instructional Specialist, Campus Instructional Leadership Team Leader, Department Chair, Curriculum Writer, and Professional Development Developer and Facilitator for online and face-to-face sessions.
